Ether was a project focussed on the branding and advertising for a Japanese tea and dream elixir product combination that was designed to aid better sleep and enhance dream activity. My research came from the art of Japanese tea ceremonies, the meditative ritual-like process involved.
This stop motion video explores that concept of a calming ritual in this step by step guide to using the product. This project helped me explore my take on animation and directing a concept. Considering I had no proper equipment or software to create this animation, I am still please with the outcome. Every element in the animation is handmade.
Promotional posters made for the either movie, with the ether tea elements arranged neatly, hinting to the calming process of the tea making experience.
The box design is calming on the outside, hinting at the relaxing nature of the routine, the under layer by contrast is dreamy and almost hypnotic, this is paying homage to the dream enhancing elixir.
I worked hard of creating a calming scene, using a back-lit screen to give the room this orangey, sunset glow. Also, each element that shuffles away is something that either brings stress or must be done before bed, them leaving the shot indicates the stress being relieved and pushed out of the mind.
The ritual guide that comes in the tea box, these are the steps the video demonstrates.
